For the Libraries of the University of Picardie Jules Verne (UPJV), a leading university in Northern France, Dot Beyond implemented the Sebina suite, an integrated library management platform.
The project enabled the optimization and significant expansion of library services across 12 sites on 6 campuses, bringing technological innovation to serve the vast French academic community.
The Challenge: optimizing and integrating a complex library System
In July 2024, Dot Beyond was awarded the contract to provide a cutting-edge library management system and a search and services portal for UPJV. The goal was ambitious: to deliver a comprehensive solution capable of meeting the needs of 12 libraries spread across 6 campuses (Amiens, Beauvais, Saint-Quentin, Creil, Laon, Cuffies-Soissons), while ensuring an intuitive user experience and efficient management of all library operations.
The solution: Sebina, a Platform of excellence
The project, which lasted approximately nine months, led to the deployment of the Sebina suite—comprising SebinaNEXT and SebinaYOU—as the central hub of the UPJV university library network. This solution goes far beyond a simple portal, offering a comprehensive set of features and integrations:
- Migration of a vast volume of data: We successfully migrated 700,000 bibliographic records and created 36,000 user accounts, ensuring operational continuity and immediate access to a rich and extensive information heritage.
- Advanced and Comprehensive Integrations. The platform offers a wide range of key integrations, including: Institutional Directory and Authentication: Smooth and secure access for all UPJV users, with direct management of their academic identities. SUDOC and Link Resolver: Direct connectivity with the French National Catalogue (SUDOC) and integration with external electronic resources, enabling a complete research experience and access to a vast array of content. RFID Devices: Integration with access gates and self-service systems for efficient, automated, and modern management of document circulation. SMS Notifications: Fast and timely communications for alerts and reminders, improving user interaction and engagement. Document Circulation Management: Support for advanced loan services, including dedicated features for mobile libraries (bibliobus) and other distribution methods.
- Ten-Year Hosting and Maintenance: The entire infrastructure is hosted and managed by Dot Beyond, under a 10-year support and maintenance agreement that ensures long-term stability, continuous support, and future updates.
Results and Collaboration
Collaboration with the UPJV team was a key factor in the success of this project. Their punctuality and close synergy with our team made it possible to overcome every challenge and reach the go-live milestone by June 2025, fully on schedule.
