Gamification experience

"In Segno 2.0" is an edutainment project created for the Museo Officina della Scrittura in Turin, in collaboration with the Aurea Signa Association. The museum tells the story of the evolution of writing through a journey that combines art, history, and innovation.

The project was born with a dual purpose: the first is to engage children aged 7 to 12 through an edutainment experience based on play and the interactive exploration of the evolution of writing. The second is to enhance and preserve the historical memory of the Aurora Manufactory by creating a dedicated digital archive that is accessible and innovative.

Experience the gamification

"In Segno 2.0” is the playful heart of the project, an interactive journey that transforms a museum visit into an educational adventure.

The experience is available online, through a narrative onboarding on the website, and on-site, via touch monitors along the exhibition route.

The story of the two main characters ensures user engagement, encouraging participants to explore and actively take part in the adventure. Through quizzes, puzzles, timelines, and creative activities, visitors learn while playing, immersing themselves in the evolution of writing in a fun and interactive way.

Narrative concept

The protagonists of the game experience are Sofia, a lively ten-year-old girl, and Pino, a lost talking pen nib. During her visit to the Abbadia di Stura, Sofia meets Pino and decides to help him return to the Museo Officina della Scrittura.

Together, they guide children through a playful and educational journey filled with quizzes, puzzles, timelines, and creative activities, culminating in the design of a personalized fountain pen, the “14th Queen.

The story unfolds through illustrated images, videos, and dialogues, ensuring an engaging and entertaining experience.

The entire experience was developed with original illustrated storytelling, populated by narrative companions that make learning immediate and fun.

Supporting the narrative, a coherent ecosystem was created, which includes four interactive mini-games, an accessible and recognizable visual identity, and a digital platform integrated with the museum’s website, designed to extend the adventure beyond the exhibition halls.

Digital Archive: Historical Memory and Industrial Culture

At the same time, the project gave life to the Aurora Pen Digital Archive through the Samira platform.

The archive collects, organizes, and makes the company’s historical materials accessible, telling the story of craftsmanship, design, and the evolution of the fountain pen.

It is not just a digital repository, but a true cultural platform, designed for scholars, enthusiasts, and the general public, enhancing and preserving the historical heritage in a modern way.

Digital Archive: Historical Memory and Industrial Culture

The digitization work began with an analysis of what was already organized, which collections had been digitized, and the relationships between the objects.

The process involved three main phases: extraction from obsolete systems, data normalization, and integration into the new system. The result is the Integrated Catalog of the Officina della Scrittura, a unique digital environment where the collection and archive interact, information is interconnected, and historical heritage becomes shared and accessible.

This integration allows the history of the company and of writing as a cultural act to be highlighted, making even the complexity of the materials understandable and accessible.

Project Value

“In Segno 2.0” combines educational innovation with the preservation of historical memory, transforming a museum visit into a playful and educational experience while consolidating Aurora’s tradition in an accessible, dynamic, and enduring digital archive.
